Delivering Exceptional Drone Event Video in Aldershot for Victoria Day Celebrations

Over the past three years, South Downs Drones (formerly Firefly UAV) has partnered with Orchid Digital to deliver exceptional drone event videos in Aldershot for the annual Victoria Day celebrations, typically held in June. This vibrant event commemorates Aldershot’s historical ties to Queen Victoria and features a grand parade, live music, and various family-friendly activities. 

Victoria Day attracts thousands of visitors to Aldershot town centre. For instance, in 2023, the event drew over 14,000 attendees, with more than 800 participants in the grand parade, including samba bands, schools, community groups, and classic cars.

Operating within Farnborough Airport’s Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ) presents unique challenges due to stringent airspace regulations designed to ensure aviation safety. To navigate these constraints, we meticulously assess risks and implement mitigation strategies, including obtaining necessary permissions and coordinating closely with local authorities.

Given the high probability of public interaction during such a prominent event, we’ve refined our approach over the years to maintain safety and professionalism. By utilizing multiple takeoff and landing locations, along with contingency plans, we ensure seamless operations throughout the event.
